No Canoes

Although I would have loved to go canoeing on Trinity River, I wasn't able to with my schedule. Instead, I decided to explore Trinity River in another way. I decided to do some research on the Trinity River before I went to go visit it. Through my research, I was able to find out that there is a Trinity River Vision Authority program that was made to build the connection from Fort Worth to the Trinity River. With it, there have been projects that have been implemented to restore the park's ecosystem, provide flood control, and create urban revitalization. Also through Trinity River Vision Authority, there are multiple things people of Fort Worth can do to connect to the river such as paddle boarding or concerts on the river.
I found all this information particularly interesting as I knew Trinity River was always there, I just never considered it a "hang out" spot. Because of research, I decided to drag one of my friends with me to eat lunch there. We ordered food from Zoey's and just went to the river to eat and hang out while enjoying the scenery. While she was kind of skeptical, saying "Trinity River is kind of gross", by the end of our impromptu picnic she said that we should go there more often. Very rarely do I ever spend a great amount of time outside, however I am excited to take more friends there in the future to just hang out.

  2. Hi Danielle!

I found the research you did very interesting. We have learned a lot about the Trinity River in my ecology class this semester, and I've enjoyed learning about the water source that is so important to our city. The Trinity is our water source in Fort Worth, and it is a network that has been expanded with damns built and reservoirs created. The changes made to the river have affected its natural ecosystem a lot, which is part of the reason it is such a "dirty" river, along with the fact that it is where our treated waste water goes, and people pollute in it all the time. I think that if the community put in the work, we would be able to improve this resource greatly in terms of aesthetic, and it would be an even better place to hang out!
